The Journey began at Kennett High School in Kennett, Missouri during the 1999-2000 school year. It was a typical North American high school with students from all walks of life. The main talk through the halls was about how the party was last weekend and where the party would be the next. However, God had bigger plans for Kennett High School that would unfold with the help of a few students who were willing to be used for God’s glory. One–by-one, students were catching on to this God sized vision of bringing their friends to a relationship with Christ. In January of 2000, an overwhelming thirty students made decisions to follow Christ! Shortly after, in February, the same students put on a Friday night youth rally at the First Baptist Church, which attracted more than 120 local high school students. The talk around school was no longer about the parties, but about what God was doing in everyone’s lives.

All of this eventually formed a vision and a dream inside of the hearts of some of the students who witnessed all that God was doing. In the spring of 2003, The Journey made its way to Hot Springs, Arkansas for a two day event focusing on college students. However, since it all started in a high school; that is where the “original few” thought the focus should stay. After a few years passed, God brought some of the “original few” back together, along with several new friends, in August 2006. Together, they held the first actual High School Journey conference in the town which The Journey was originally rooted-Kennett, Missouri.

No one knows where this will lead, but all we can do is trust in God and follow Him through it all. The vision is big and the path is unknown, but God is still God and He will receive all glory, praise and honor through it all.
